As venues to connect with peers of common backgrounds and shared interests, student clubs and associations also provide settings for international students to build support networks. An active member of the Organization of Pakistani Students since his first year, Khan considers cultural clubs a great way to meet people and build lasting relationships.
Across Canada and USA, low vacancy rates continue to affect student housing shortages and many students are desperately trying to find a place to live for next semester. We launched a nationwide media campaign to encourage assistance from the public by asking homeowners, "Would you be willing to rent your spare room to a student?"

There are lots of benefits to having a student reside in your home as a tenant. Our partner schools are helping to raise awareness too and many are offering FREE or reduced listing prices to help with the situation.

University can be a big place, so that's why York is one of the only universities in Canada that has a college system. The college system nurtures a feeling of community among students, particularly making international students feel like they're at home . All undergraduates are assigned to a college as their "home base" to study, hang out and feel part of a close-knit group within the York community.
Submit your English Proficiency via an official score report* for the TOEFL, Duolingo, SAT, ACT, IELTS, AP, IB, A levels or PTE Academic. Transfer students who have completed a college-level writing course at a US college (and have received a C or above) are also not required to submit scores from one of these exams.
One of the best things about Cornell is its community of people from all walks of life. But finding your place here as an international student comes with challenges, so the university provides a multitude of resources to help.
There are countless cultural groups and clubs on campus for students to find their home away from home. I am a member of Hong Kong Student Association (HKSA), and there are events both within the association and as collaborations with other cultural groups. Last semester, HKSA and other cultural clubs on campus organized a large Mid-Autumn Festival event open to the whole Cornell community.
New international students are required to attend an orientation session that is held one or two days before the start of every semester. This mandatory orientation will prepare you for your time spent at Nazareth and the United States.
A specialty housing option available is Global Commons where international students live side by side with students from the U.S. to learn more about each other and allow greater opportunities for cross-cultural exchange.
Additional information for incoming students may be found on the Residential Life website. Please note: The CIE does not make housing selections for international students nor can we guarantee your selections will be granted; housing is assigned by Residential Life staff.
Pay-As-You-Go or Prepaid Plans are the easiest cell phone plans for short-term international students to obtain. These plans use the same cell phone networks and offer the same services that contract plans do but at higher rates. However, there are no long-term contracts, security deposits, or penalties for cancellation. If you are here with family members or close friends, a Family Plan can reduce your monthly costs.
RTS bus rides to/from campus (Arts Center) are free for students, faculty, and staff with your Nazareth ID from Friday evening through Sunday afternoon. It's $1 at all other times. RTS schedule and routes are updated annually. Visit downtown Rochester, shop at Wegmans grocery store or Eastview Mall!
Many international students have families that come with them to the United States while they pursue their studies at Nazareth. You are required to report your dependent(s) arrival in the U.S. and their local residential address to the CIE.
Two weeks before the end of every semester, the CIE will send an online departure form to all international students living on campus. You must complete this form prior to the last day of class to inform us of the details of your departure. *We will also send housing break forms for winter and/or summer break plans for students who plan to return to continue their studies.
These students provide leadership to the international student population at Rhodes by helping new international students to acclimate quickly to their new home. The IPAs are older students (US or International) who enjoy being a resource for our international students about life in Memphis, at Rhodes, in the US, and about cultural transitions.
I'm pretty involved on campus being the incoming President of the African Students Association (ASA) and being on the Social Justice Cohort of Memphis Wesley! I'm also a member of multiple student organisations like All Students Interested in Asia (ASIA), South Asian Culture and Advocacy (SACA), LatinX Student Association (LSA), the French Club, Rhodes Organisation of Investors (ROI) and Black Students Association (BSA)! I love playing volleyball, writing articles, taking walks, and being the life of a party ?. I believe so much in the International community at Rhodes and it's so fulfilling being surrounded by so many amazing people with cultures from all over the world because these very people have become the ones to make Rhodes feel like a home away from home. I'd love to talk to you about any questions you might have so don't hesitate to reach out on aiyot-23@rhodes.edu!
Hello everyone!!! My name is Huyen (Scarlett) Nguyen and I am an international student from Vietnam. I have not declared my major yet, but I am thinking of biochemistry or chemistry major and in Chinese Studies minor. One thing I love the most about Rhodes is the extremely welcoming and inclusive community here. It's also my biggest motivation to become an IPA this year as I want to bring the incoming international students the same wonderful experience about the Rhodes community as I am having now! I love baking and cooking so much, to the point that I sometimes can bake at 1am while I have 8 am class the same day :>>> Besides baking, I love traveling, learning languages, and hanging out with my friends here. I can't wait to accompany the lovely incoming international students on their new journey at Rhodes!
I am involved in a variety of clubs on campus and serve on the exec board for GSA (Gender and Sexuality Alliance) and SACA (South Asian Culture and Advocacy). I absolutely love traveling and have lived in 16 countries over the past 8 years. Although I am originally from India, I spent the better half of my childhood in New York and developed to be a fascinating amalgamation of a diversity of cultures around the world. I also love hiking, exploring new music, finding new local coffee shops, and making economics graphs. The international community at Rhodes has been so welcoming and has helped me find my closest friends on campus. I recognize that this transition to another space and culture can be as challenging of an experience as it is rewarding, and as an IPA, I hope to create pathways for fellow international students to explore campus, Memphis, their communities at Rhodes, and their own way of being. I look forward to being a part of the IPA team and meeting everyone! 2ff7e9595c
